Perils estimates Cyclone Eleanor losses at EUR643mn

Catastrophe data aggregator Perils has issued a EUR643mn ($789.3mn) initial loss estimate for extra-tropical Cyclone Eleanor, which struck swathes of western and central Europe on 2 January and 3 January.
Eleanor, also called Burglind, hit Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the UK, causing significant damage across that wide area.
Gusts exceeded 160km/h in Switzerland, France and Germany, where most of the insured losses occurred.
It killed six people in France.
