Irma insured loss nears $8bn in Florida as claims rise

  • Claims to cover damage related to Hurricane Irma in Florida have surpassed 900,000 while estimated insured losses now total nearly $8bn, the state Office of Insurance Regulation said today.

    Based on data collected through last week, the state said the number of claims rose to 900,228 as of 9 February while the estimated total of insured losses climbed about 10 percent to $7.95bn.
