Several Floridians look for FHCF replacement covers

  • Several Floridian insurers are looking to lower their reliance on the state-backed reinsurance fund in 2018, bringing a small amount of new demand into the market, sister publication Trading Risk reported.

    Safepoint Insurance, First Protective and Sawgrass Mutual all notified the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund (FHCF) that they were planning to drop their participation levels to 45 percent.

    This was down from 75 percent for Safepoint and 90 percent for the two other carriers.
