Class action settlements value plummets in 2017: Cornerstone

  • The value of securities class action settlements fell by 76 percent to nearly $1.5bn in 2017, the second-lowest level in the past decade, according to Cornerstone Research.

    In addition, for the first time in more than five years, there were no settlements for more than $250mn, the consulting firm said.

    However, while the 81 securities class action settlements approved by a court in 2017 did not match 2016's total of 85, they did represent the second-highest amount recorded since 2010...
